Easy Fruit & Herb Flavored Water
Ingredients
- fruit — 2 cups berries, citrus, melons, pineapple…most fruits will work (see recommended amounts in directions)
- herbs — a sprig of mint, basil, sage, rosemary, tarragon, thyme, or lavender
- water (tap or filtered)
- ice
DirectionsSupplies needed: 2 quart pitcher or jar with lid; muddler or wooden spoon
General formula for whatever fruit/herb combo you desire.
1. If using herbs, add a sprig of fresh herbs to jar/pitcher; press and twist with muddler or handle of wooden spoon to bruise leaves and release flavor; don’t pulverize the herbs into bits.
2. Add approx. 2 cups of fruit to jar/pitcher; press and twist with muddler or handle of wooden spoon, just enough to release some of the juices
3. Fill jar/pitcher with ice cubes.
4. Add water to top of jar/pitcher.
5. Cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
Suggested flavor combinations:
ALL CITRUS (no herbs) — Slice 1 orange, 1 lime, 1 lemon into rounds, then cut the rounds in half. Add to jar and proceed with muddling, add ice & water.
RASPBERRY LIME (no herbs) — Quarter 2 limes; with your hands, squeeze the juice into the jar, then throw in the squeezed lime quarters. Add 2 cups raspberries. Muddle, add ice & water.
PINEAPPLE MINT — Add a sprig of mint to the jar (you can throw in the whole sprig; or, remove the leaves from the sprig, if you prefer to have the mint swimming around and distributing in the jar). Muddle the mint. Add 2 cups pineapple pieces, muddle, add ice & water.
BLACKBERRY SAGE — Add sage sprig to jar and muddle. Add 2 cups blackberries; muddle, add ice & water.
WATERMELON ROSEMARY — Add rosemary sprig to jar & muddle. Add 2 cups watermelon cubes; muddle, add ice and water.
11 HQ FLORAL TEXTURES [DOWNLOAD]
I’ve been getting asked a lot where I get my floral textures from so here are the 11 I use most. They’re all HQ and since I got them all from Google Images, I claim no credit to any of them. You can obviously use them however you please, but I usually just use them as backgrounds. Please like this post if you download and feel free to ask if you have any further questions on how to use them!
A lot of people asked for the process on foam robotics, so here ya go. Click through for captions.
reblogged for later
Oh, well now, I guess this could come in…
HANDY.
Re-updated all my old brushes! These are the updated version with bonus bg brushes!
Also, i use a ton of textures for BGs and some brush textures, which you can find all on DeviantArt! :0
God bless your kind soul you god of men.
(Sorry this is so long, tumblr won’t let me un-indent all the things without messing the hyperlinks up BLUH. So press J to skip.)
I just went back through over 900 liked posts and dug out all the art tutorials so i can keep track of them. I guess this might be helpful to some of you guys, so here you go.
Some of these were gutted from posts where the original was deleted and so can’t be linked to in the masterpost list - especially one by Tumblr user melkh who has since either deleted or changed their url, so props to them.
Here we go then!
Freeware
Alchemy- this is a really fun program. You play around making abstract shapes until you start to see something in them, kind of like a Rorschach test. Then you use the shapes as a base to draw it from.
MyPaint- a pretty decent painting program that also has the benefit of working on Unix systems.
openCanvas 1.1- I haven’t used openCanvas in years but it was a nice program with a pretty unique feel to it.
ArtRage- Only used this a couple of times donkey’s years ago just before I got oC, but I’ve heard good things about it.
The GIMP - In a similar vein to Photoshop, but free. I couldn’t get on with it when I tried it out a few years ago, but it’s pretty popular and is available on Unix systems and Macs.Not-free-ware
Photoshop- Standard painting fare. Probably the most flexible program (particularly the latest versions) but not designed to act in a “natural” way. If you’ve used it for painting versus something like Painter you know what I mean. Who the fuck pays for it though? Google “Photoshop tumblr masterpost” and take your pick.
Paint Tool Sai- Far more affordable and definitely worth paying for if you can. The brushes are very decent (especially when they’ve been tweaked a little), the gui is simple and intuitive, and I dare you to find a program with which making smooth lineart is easier.
Corel Painter- My program of choice for most things. More tools than you could ever possibly use and pretty cheap on a student license, providing that you can prove you’re a student! It’s got a few bugs but if you want realism or a more natural feel than PS or SAI this is the program for you.Anatomy

It became kind of text heavy so I’ve cut it into different parts. Most of it is common knowledge but I hope it answers some questions. C:

e1n:
I am currently taking a class called “Visual Communications”, which apparently is the very first foundation class people take when they go to an art school. The purpose of this class is to train you so that you are confident with your lines and won’t need to scribble too much while sketching.
Our first week’s homework is training on hand stability. I’ve heard a lot of artists complain that they have “shaky hands” and so when they ink their drawings, it comes out crap, so I thought I’d share my homework with you guys.
- Draw a line about 2 inch long, as straight as you possibly can without a ruler. Go over this line EIGHT times without making the line any thicker. Repeat this exercise 10 times.
- Draw a line about half a page long, as straight as you possibly can without a ruler. Go over this line EIGHT times without making the line any thicker. Repeat this exercise 10 times.
- Draw a line from one end of the page to the opposite end, as straight as you possibly can without a ruler. Go over this line EIGHT times without making the line any thicker. Repeat this exercise 10 times.
Repeat the above exercise, but with an arc, and then with a wave.
We’re supposed to do this every day before we draw as a warm-up. Basically just keep drawing lines, arcs, and waves until you fill up an entire 8.5x11 page. Use felt-tip pens like microns/multiliner/sharpie. Keep doing this for the rest of your drawing life and your inking will get significantly better.
ooh interesting!!!
